The Metaverse's evolution is a Marathon, not a 100 Meter sprint dash.
MetaYeda 1# Three things I've learned about the disruptive future of the Metaverse.
Welcome to the first MetaYeda Weekly, in which I will share three new things I've learned about the disruptive future of the Metaverse.
The Metaverse evolution is a Marathon, not a 100 Meter sprint dash.
We have an unprecedented lifetime opportunity to build it. Together.
Let's make a better future for all. GAME-ON!
This week on the Disrupted Future of the Metaverse:
1# Meet your Banker in the Metaverse and get a Starbucks® NFT in Starbucks Odyssey's Web3 loyalty program
Credit: Starbucks, polygon; DBS, Sandbox
🚀 💰 CEO and Director of DBS Group, Piyush Gupta, announced the entry of the Singapore Bank into the Metaverse. The bank has partnered with Sandbox, a subsidiary of Animoca Brands.
The bank purchased virtual land and built the world on it, "DBS BetterWorld" for its customer community.
🚀☕️Starbucks® launches Starbucks Odyssey, a new web3 based digital loyalty program, in collaboration with Polygon Technologies. Participants who sign up for the program can earn and buy exclusive digital collectibles (NFTs). In addition, the program includes "travels," rewards, and various activities such as playing interactive games and fun challenges.
My MetaYeda insights:
1️⃣ Starbucks and the DBS Bank march cautiously and thoughtfully into the Metaverse. They choose a "learning by doing" approach and JV with appropriate technological and business partners.
2️⃣ The Metaverse, Web3, blockchain, and crypto are not a passing trend or a buzz. However, digital marketing strategy is a must-have in the Metaverse disruptive future.
3️⃣ Web3 technologies are the next step in developing loyalty programs for customers and users. In addition, gamification applications on blockchain technologies significantly add value to building communities.
What do you think is the potential of blockchain-based "immersive experiences" for brands and banks? What other industries would you like to see in Metaverse?
#2 78% of U.S. adults value Metaverse's immersive interactions
Credit: KPMG
KPMG Global consultancy firm's latest survey, Beyond gaming: the real Metaverse opportunity, reveals that 78% of U.S. adults value immersive interactions such as socializing with friends and family. Additionally, 76% of respondents say they see value in on-the-job training in the Metaverse.
I find this finding and the comprehensive report informative and insightful. Explore the results and trends if you are an executive, entrepreneur, or thought leader.
Two additional findings that caught my attention:
First, among those who have participated in the Metaverse, the top experiences include starting a business (91%), collaborative online games and simulations (91%), and immersive virtual experiences created by brands (87%).
Secondly, 79% of respondents say privacy is the top concern when using the Metaverse is the use of their personal information. The report emphasizes that this issue is one of the critical points for greater engagement.
My MetaYeda insights:
1️⃣ Experiences Economy
When considering a specific Metaverse venture as an investment opportunity or as an advertising platform for your Brand, analyze and deep dive into the platform's affordances.
Diversify immersive experiences are a vital factor for a thriving virtual world.
2️⃣ Humanitarian and Ethical Code First
Builders of the Metaverse should have a Humanitarian and ethical code first.
Metaverse Ethical code is not just a nice-to-have feature. Something we leave abundant. The users will come, but they will stick to the platform if they receive respect. Therefore, keeping their personal information secure and ensuring privacy are critical factors for your Metaverse growth.
Investors and Brand managers would not risk the Brand reputation by investing or doing joint ventures with an unsecured Metaverse platform.
3️⃣ Empowering and respecting the users should be your primary objective as a Metaverse Builder—Money Making second.
Empowerment means setting new roles in Web3 for the distribution of wealth.
We can design our future to foster abundance. For the digital creator economy, we can design it so everyone gets proper credit and money flowing from their value-add contributions."

3# Metaverse and Popular Culture converge
Community, Economy, and Culture is the Metaverse.
If you exclude one of its three pillars, there is no Metaverse.
Culture is a big thing in the Metaverse.

Quote of the Week
I think we're in a potentially highly disruptive time where some companies—and some tech—are enabling the ability [for people] to create and prosper from their creations. I think characters and avatars are kind of the same. They're identities. They're personas. And they could become very attractive and popular to others, just like personalities and actors in the real world".
