Samsung's e-Skin, Surplex's VR tracking Shoes, and Two Giants! @ElonMusk's tweet included #gamerforlife
MetaYeda #6 Three things I've learned about the disruptive future of the Metaverse w/ Founder @ juloot, @MetaYeda, @YedaVerse
1# From Second Skin to Samsung’s E-Skin
I've got you under my skin. Virtually.
Have you seen the documentary film Second Skin? The 2008 movie follows the lives of seven people as they dive into the world of MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games) and develop their Virtual Augmented Self.
The documentary focuses on the impact of virtual worlds such as World of Warcraft, EverQuest, EverQuest II, and Second Life on their lives IRL (in real life). I highly recommend it.
Moving forward, ESKIN (electronic skin) is a research and development project by Professor Jerome Jeong from POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology University) in South Korea. Funded and supported by Samsung's Science and Technology Foundation, the project's primary goal is to mimic human skin's function and use it as a digital control interface.
In addition to using sight and hearing, we will use the sense of touch (Haptic) when we play VR/ Video games or live and work with our 3D avatars in the Metaverse.
What a revolution within touching distance!
This innovative interface has vast potential for medical applications and the porn industry. For example, a recent video clip by Samsung News shows how ESKIN can improve patients' health from pressure sores.
How will skydiving with an avatar in Fortnite feel while wearing your second ESKIN? The feeling of touching hands and hugging your girlfriend or boyfriend using an ESKIN? How does it feel to punch your annoying boss in the face or shake hands with a robot with human-like hands?
Infinite possibilities of ESKIN implementations are opened up for us to explore.
Just Imagine: I invite you to imagine the new immersive experience types we can create for users/gamers with ESKIN.
2# Surplex’s VR tracking shoes
Let’s dance with the Full body tracking magic shoes.
Surplex is a pair of virtual reality (VR) tracking shoes that can capture full-body movement in the VR World. No Waist Straps, No Webcams, No Base Stations. Step into the VR World with only a pair of shoes!
Bella Vorobiov points out in her Tech, Digital and Innovation telegram channel (in Heb) that the startup's sneakers transfer different body parameters in motion into the Metaverse (based on sensors, machine learning, etc.). So it is not only a movement duplication but a simulation of situations. So shortly, our avatar experience will be much more synchronized and accurate, like Full body tracking.
3# Giant! Artem's Times Square AR Show by Buoy Studio
AR Marketing: Will independent artists get to present their works in NY Times Square as leading brands do?
The Ukrainian artist Artem Humilevsky's self-portrait photos were displayed all around Times Square's ad billboards using augmented reality technologies. In addition, the artist's art creations will be available for instant purchases as NFTs. The exhibition is an interactive experience still in development by Buoy Studio. The studio uses Niantic's Lightship Visual Positioning System (VPS) of the 8th Wall platform. (Source: 8thWall).
What is 8th Wall?
8th Wall is a platform of Ninantic Labs that offers a complete set of tools to create, collaborate and publish interactive Web Augmented Reality experiences. The experiences run directly in a web browser, requiring no particular app. (Website).
You don't need to imagine. The future is here! Augmented Reality opens up new opportunities for marketing and advertising.
Let's say you want to develop a location-based augmented reality application to display your artwork on top of Tel Aviv's City Hall at Rabin's Square. Do we need to get the approval of the City mayor?
Whoa!
Now we get an excellent source of income for law firms that represent the owners of the point of interest real estate.
AI ART of the Week
What will happen if you combine AI art with Minecraft?
Sean Simon's DiffusionCraft AI: Minecraft with Live Stable Diffusion:
Here is my latest #stablediffusion experiment where I managed to get Microsoft's Minecraft running live through Stable Diffusion, with the little help of #python.
Quote of the Week by a Giant
Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in! Elon Musk (Twitter Thread, Oct 26, 2022).
When Elon Musk was twelve, he programmed "Blastar", an arcade video game. He later sold it to PCX magazine for $500. Yesterday he entered Twitter HQ holding a sink. Later that day, Elon Musk Completed a $44 Billion Deal to Own Twitter (By Kate Conger and Lauren Hirsch for New York Times).
Genius.
My Take:
You see @elonmusk bringing a sink to #Twitter HQ. I see a #Flamethrower. #gamerforlife #TheBoringCompany
I'll see you in the Metaverse. GameOn!
