The definition of intelligence is evolving as we enter a new era shaped by AI.
Artificial intelligence is more than a technological advancement. It introduces uncertainty, accelerates decision-making, and reshapes our understanding of power, work, leadership, and value. Many individuals and organizations still rely on outdated methods, risking irrelevance compared to competitors who leverage AI-driven insights. This reluctance can result in missed opportunities for innovation and meeting modern consumer demands.
My understanding of this did not begin with AI.
It began with video games.
I grew up before computers became commonplace.
We played games like tag, marbles, and five stones, creating rules, competing, strategizing, and learning both to win and to lose.
Through play, we learned to manage frustration, take risks, plan ahead, and adapt to unpredictability.
Years later, games like Pac-Man, Mario, and Fortnite transformed the way people play. By observing and participating with my children, I saw they gained more than just entertainment. They developed persistence, collaboration, planning, resource management under uncertainty, and focus when facing challenges.
I was drawn not to the technology itself, but to the opportunities it created:
Video games fostered motivation, resilience, creativity, and a strong sense of capability.
This observation marked the beginning of my research journey.
My mission: To identify the factors driving the success of video games and the gaming industry, and to challenge common myths and biases.
For over twenty years, I have studied how games and virtual worlds influence behavior, learning, motivation, and decision-making. My doctoral and postdoctoral work focused on VR systems, learning processes, and human interaction with virtual worlds. My published research examines what I call the “happin-gineering” secrets of the gaming industry: how video games impact our brains, behavior, learning, work, communication, business, society, and culture.
As founder and CEO of MetaverSense Ltd., I developed avatar and smart-agent solutions for training and learning before AI agents became common. My work focused on virtual worlds for edutech and defencetech, AI-powered avatars in the metaverse, serious games, learning technologies, and applying theory in real organizations. This experience laid the foundation for Gameful Intelligence by demonstrating the transformative potential of combining advanced technology with human-centered design and learning.
I do not claim to have all the answers.
Through my work in research, consulting, and venture building, I have concluded that success in the age of AI requires a new form of human intelligence.
I coined the term Gameful Intelligence to describe a new form of human intelligence for the age of AI. It is designed to help individuals, organizations, and societies achieve their full potential, even in uncertain times.
MetaYeda is where I share insights on this transformation.
Here, we explore how intelligence, motivation, and decision-making function in complex systems. This approach helps us move beyond hype and fear to understand what AI changes and what it does not. We also examine how concepts from leading industries can be applied responsibly to leadership, learning, and growth.
Navigating the age of AI is not as straightforward as walking on stable ground. It is more like crossing a glacier, where the ice cracks underfoot and shifts with each step. The landscape is unstable, constantly changing, and easy to misjudge.
Old maps are no longer useful. Relying on familiar instincts can lead us astray. Now, progress depends on both speed and understanding the landscape, as well as making intentional choices.

*What is #MetaYeda?
MetaYeda is a term I coined.
META (from the Greek μετά, meta, meaning “after” or “beyond”) is a prefix meaning “more comprehensive” or “transcending.” (Wikipedia).
YEDA is the Hebrew verb ידע (Yeda’), which means Knowledge or to Know (Yada’). Other meanings include to be made known, to be revealed, to make oneself known, to be perceived, or to be instructed. It is a fundamental root that occurs 944 times in the Old Testament.
